President Buhari conferred with 2 Chieftancy Titles in Ebonyi

President Muhammadu Buhari, has been conferred with 2 chieftaincy titles in Ebonyi State.
The official Twitter account of the president @NGRPresident shared photos of him receiving the titles, Enyioma 1 of Ebonyi, and Ochioha Ndi Igbo 1.
The president also attended the unveiling of the statue of one of the founding fathers of Nigeria Akanu Ibiam.
The Twitter account also revealed President Buhari inaugurated 2 multi-billion naira flyover projects built by the Ebonyi State Government on a section of the African Trans-Saharan Highway that runs through Enugu, Cross River, and Cameroon.

Police Accused of Brutality and Connivance in Lagos State

Residents of Okomala Street and Fayemi Close in Ilasamaja area of Lagos State have accused the police of brutality and connivance with a company in the area to dispossess them of their lands. They alleged that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Oriyomi Titilayo, and operatives of the Lagos State task force on Environment had terrorised them despite a pending suit before an Ikeja High Court. The residents, who said the police supervised the demolition of six buildings including those of Pastor John Onyekwere, Blessing Olasukanmi and Mrs. Rebecca Obamulire, in outright disregard to a court ruling that ordered status quo ante, added that landlords who protested the action were beaten and bundled into a Black Maria stationed. Kenyan Governor, Wahome Gakuru Dies In Ghastly Motor Accident

Governor of Nyeri in Kenya, Wahome Gakuru has died after being involved in a ghastly motor accident in in Kabati on the Thika-Kenol highway. The governor and his driver were rushed to Thika Level 5 Hospital and were set to be flown to Nairobi Hospital for further treatment. Gakuru becomes the second Nyeri Governor to pass on while in office after the late Nderitu Gachagua who died last year in February at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London while undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer. Governor Gakuru, who is the former vision 2030 director, was travelling to Nairobi for a talk show on Inooro TV.

FG directs Malami to recover $321m Abacha loot from Switzerland

Federal Government yesterday authorised the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, to endorse an agreement between Nigeria and Switzerland to facilitate the repatriation of ‎$321 million Abacha loot at the forthcoming global forum on asset recovery in the United States (U.S.) next month. Malami, who disclosed this yesterday while briefing State House Correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, said that efforts to recover stolen assets by the administration had started yielding results. The AGF said the agreement would empower him to recover the fund on behalf of Nigeria. He said that representatives of both countries would sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the repatriation of the fund. Jide Tinubu, son of the national leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu is dead. In a tweet by @APCUKingdom, the party prayed for the repose of the soul of the son of the national leader of the ruling APC. “It’s with regrets that we inform Nigerians of the demise of Mr. Jide Tinubu, the Son of Our dear and esteemed Leader,  @AsiwajuTinubu . RIP”. The tweet is sequel to the letter from the chairman of the party in Lagos State, Mr. Otunba Ajomole, to the party, which reads: “It’s with regrets that I inform you of the demise of Mr. Jide Tinubu, the son of our dear esteemed leader, Asiwaju Nola Ahmed Tinubu” “Please commiserate with him”. Late Jide was a law graduate of the University of Liverpool, England. He obtained a Masters degree in Maritime Law from the University of London and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1999.

Deformed Babies Born Near North Korea's Nuclear Wasteland

Disturbing  reports  have emerged from North Korea stating that the country's nuclear program has had a crippling effect on nationals who live near a major testing site. The Research Association of Vision of North Korea spoke with 21 defectors from Kilju, a town near the Punngye-ri nuclear test site where six tests have been conducted, according to South Korean newspaper  Chosun Ilbo . The group painted an extremely bleak picture of the current state of the region, claiming that about 80 percent of trees planted in the city die and that all of their underground wells have run dry due to nuclear activity. "I heard from a relative in Kilju that deformed babies were born in hospitals there," one defector told the paper.
