Showcasing the rich Cultural Calabar Carnival

The 2017 cultural carnival Calabar has held yesterday in Calabar. The event featured 26 states of Nigeria and all the 18 local government areas in Cross River State. The event is aimed at showcasing Nigeria’s rich cultural content to the world as well as develop art, craft and take them to the next level. No fewer than two million tourists from Nigeria and abroad are expected in the state to witness the “largest street carnival” in Africa.

  Buhari Presents 2018 Budget to National Assembly President Muhammadu Buhari yestaday in Abuja presented about N8.612 trillion as the 2018 Appropriation bill to a joint session of the National Assembly, saying the projected expenditure would drive rapid economic recovery. With a benchmark of 45 dollars per barrel at an exchange rate of N305 to a dollar in 2018, the President maintained that the budget would consolidate on the achievements of previous budgets to aggressively steer the economy to the path of steady growth. He added that while the Federal Government was committed to identifying alternative means of funding new projects, there was need to continue to pursue public private partnership, to provide more infrastructure in the country. Army destroy 46 oil bunker sites in Niger Delta

The Nigerian Army said it had destroyed 46 illegal bunker sites in Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa and Rivers at the just-concluded Exercise Crocodile Smile II. Col. Tanks have been spotted heading towards  Zimbabwe 's capital Harare. Eyewitnesses said military vehicles were also blocking major roads outside the city. Local media also reported that heavily armed military personnel had sealed off state TV broadcaster ZBC. It comes amid rising tensions between the southern African nation's military and the country's ruling Zanu-PF party, headed by President  Robert Mugabe  - the only leader Zimbabwe has known in 37 years of independence. The president plunged the country into political crisis by sacking his vice president Emerson Mnangagwa, 75, last week.
