Tanks have been spotted heading towards  Zimbabwe 's capital Harare. Eyewitnesses said military vehicles were also blocking major roads outside the city. Train Crash 'kills 33' in Democratic Republic of Congo A train crash in the Democratic Republic of Congo has killed 33 people, UN radio station Okapi reports. It happened in Buyofwe in the province Lualaba, in the south of the country. Radio Okapi said that the train caught fire after crashing into a ravine. According to reports, it was carrying flammable material. The train was running between Lubumbashi, the second-largest city, and the town of Luena, 2,000km (1,200 miles) from the capital, Kinshasa. The province's Governor Richard Muyej told the BBC there had been an accident but he could not confirm deaths.

Hoodlums today invaded the venue of the empowerment programme, organised by Senator Ahmed Ogembe for women in Okene, Kogi state. The Afims Hotel venue was already filled up by guests , party members and the would-be-beneficiaries of the empowerment programme, when the hoodlums came calling, wielding dangerous weapons, attacking people and disrupting the seating arrangement for the event. The few security men at the hotel were said to have been overwhelmed by the thugs, who scattered tables and chairs and triggered a bedlam. The thugs said to be armed with dangerous weapons searched frantically for Ogembe who is representing Kogi Central Senatorial district but could not lay hands on him. Teenager kills schoolmate to postpone exams

India arrested a teenager Wednesday for allegedly slitting the throat of a seven-year-old schoolmate in hopes the murder would lead to an exam being postponed, federal investigators said. The 16-year-old is accused of killing his young schoolmate in September at a smart private school near Delhi in an attempt to delay an impending test and parent-teacher meeting. Police had initially detained a bus conductor over the murder, claiming he killed the boy after the young pupil resisted a sex attack. But a spokesman for federal investigators said they had credible evidence against the “academically weak teenager, whose motive was to postpone the examination and a forthcoming parent-teacher meeting”. “He admitted during questioning that he wanted to shut the school to defer the exams and meeting,” Central Bureau of Investigation spokesman R.K. NLC Drags Nigeria to the International Labour Organisation

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has dragged Nigeria to the International Labour Organisation (ILO) for non-payment of salaries and proscription of trade unions in Kogi State. There are also indications that the NLC may embark on rallies and protest soon to put pressure on the Federal Government to kick-start negotiation on the new minimum wage. President of the NLC, Ayuba Wabba, said the NLC dragged Nigeria to ILO because of the proscription of labour unions by the Kogi State government as well as non-payment of salaries, which constitute breach of ILO core conventions. He stated that Kogi State could not be taken to the ILO because treaties and conventions are signed by nations and Kogi State is only an arm of the Federal Government.
